The "Kunstmuseum St. Gallen" where this work was exhibited was originally a train yard.
In fact, railways have a history of carrying “time.” At the end of the 19th century, the development of the railroad network made it necessary to establish the "World Standard Time" to unify the time, which had been disparate in many places.
With this history in mind, Miyajima decided to install a Railroad carries Time piece at this location. Three railway tracks run in a circular pattern in turn. This represents the present, past and future, which go back and forth. And all of the counters on that train are counting disparate times. This represents the original time of the various regions.
And what is "time" through this work? Miyajima hopes it would give you a chance to think about it.
